So, now what?
Well, I am definitely not going to wait on more thorough research on whether or not cell phones cause cancer. I plan to be proactive and decrease my potential risk today.

1. Do not carry your phone in your pocket or close to your body. If you must, turn your airplane mode on.
2. When sleeping at night, leave your phone outside of the bedroom. If you're like me and use your iphone as an alarm, please turn the airplane mode on. Keep the phone as far away from your head as possible, especially if you feel that you are just unable to keep your phone off all night.
3. When in areas with low signal such as subways or rural areas, put your phone on airplane mode. This keeps it from constantly searching for a signal, which takes even more energy (more cancer causing energy in order to find that tower!)
4. If you are in low signal areas, turn off your cell phone data. You will still be able to send and receive phone calls (just no imessages.) On an iphone, to shut off your cellular data, go to "Settings", "Cellular", and swipe off "Cellular Data". This is good to do when you are traveling in a car (especially while driving, since you will not be surfing the interweb.)
5. Use your earplugs or speaker phone when talking on the phone (keep your brain away from the phone.)
6. Text message instead of talk on the phone.
7. Turn on WIFI when you are able. Although there is a potential that WIFI can increase your risk for cancer, if your cell phone is closer to a WIFI port than a cell phone tower, than you should probably choose drawing from the energy that is closest to your phone and go with the WIFI port.
8. Check out these belly armor blankets, which protect you (and your future kiddos) from electronic radiation.
9. Remember, you can always be old school and write a letter.
10. Or have a conversation with the person you're in the same room with.
